Coffee

How much coffee is produced in the world?

Approximately 126 million 60 kilogram bags of raw coffee is produced worldwide per year. 65% of which is the Arabica variety and 35% is the Robusta variety. Brazil is the number 1 producer accounting for 36% and Vietnam is number 2 accounting for 13% of the worlds production.

What is coffee roasting?

It is a chemical process called pyrolysis (200 - 220 degree Celcius) by which the chemical composition of raw coffee are altered to create flavor, aroma and body as desired by the roaster.

What is the proper brewing time of coffee?

Coffee should be brewed for 4.5 to 5 minutes with filtered water at a temperature of 195 - 205 degree Farenheit.

Tea

What is the health benefit of Malunggay?

Can herbal tea be served cold?

What are the common types of lettuce?

The 2 common types of lettuce that we normally consume are:
•Leaf Lettuce
        - Comes in different colors from green to maroon/red. 
        - It has rounded edges or frills and ruffles. 
        - A good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and  protein.
        - Mildly flavored.
        - Ideal for salad and sandwiches.

•Romaine Lettuce
        - Long, rigid and sturdy leaves that are tightly paked and dark
          green colored.
        - Deep taste and crunchy texture
        - Used for Ceasar salad
        - Good source of vitamins A and C, iron, protein.

How to select and store lettuce?
 

- Lettuce should feature crisp looking, unwilted leaves that are
  free of dark or slimy spots. In addition, the leaves' edges should
  be free of brown or yellow discoloration. 

- Romaine and leaf lettuce should be washed and dried before
  storing in the refrigerator to remove their excess moisture, a
  salad spinner can be very helpful in drying.

- Lettuce should either be stored in a plastic bag or wrapped in a
  damp cloth and stored in the refrigerator crisper.

- Lettuce should be stored away from ethelyn producing fruits
  such as apples, bananas and pears, since they will cause the
  lettuce leaves to brown.

Our menu selection in Refreshers, The Gourmet Diner, fuses together all the flavors of our 8-hectare farm in the healthy variety of popular salad choices that we offer that spans the globe - from Oriental to our Mexican to our Sicilian Salad to the salad classics like the Caesar and the Garden and the Cobb.  We have twelve salad offerings as of the moment, with more to come.  Our salad dressings are special too - all the Gourmet's preservative-free favorites. All our salad offers come in a snack or meal pack prepared straight from our farm where our organically grown lettuce and herbs abound.  Truly very lifestyle friendly.  All this as an off-shoot of Gourmet Cafe's renowned salad bar which our mother company pioneered way back in the late 80's.

In addition to our salad selection, we also have our hot and cold (freshly prepared and packed for those in a rush) sandwich choices.   And of course, the pasta and the pizza  that Gourmet's Cafe is known for is now served in Refreshers. We have our coffee and tea too which you can enjoy with our delicious sweet treats.

Does Refreshers have a branch in Manila?

Presently, we have a Refreshers kiosk at the ground floor of our Taguig head office, very near The Fort. Address is PCPD Building, PCPD Compound, 2332 Pasong Tamo Extension (past Prestige Cars), Taguig City. The former PopCen (Population Center) Building where Beacon School is currently located. We also do deliveries within the Makati area for a minimum total of Php 300.00 only.  You can call us at 843-8311 or 843-8336 for deliveries.  But COMING SOON, thanks to the warm response to Refreshers Silang, we are planning to open a Makati branch within the year. 

What time does Refreshers in Silang open and close?

Our operating hours are from 7am to 9pm from Monday to Thursday and 7am to 11pm from Friday to Sunday.  But we remain open as long as customers are around.  We also serve all-day breakfast meals starting 7am.
